Provence en hiver

We visit Provence frequently in search of vintage French treasures to sell on our website and one of our favourite places is the Camargue. Beautiful at every time of year, it's especially stunning in Winter. Free from the Summer heat and mosquitoes you can truly appreciate the wildlife and the breathtaking scenery. The famous white horses and pink flamingoes are an amazing sight as you drive across this ruler flat landscape. We particularly recommend the drive from the beautiful town of Arles, following in Van Gogh's footsteps to the sea side resort of Saint Maries de la Mer, where he loved to paint.

These pictures were taken with a vintage Pentax SP100 camera by Dazzle's resident photographer John. Shot on FP4 film and developed the old fashioned way, sometimes vintage really is best!

The light in Provence is perfect for black and white photography, throwing long shadows which bring out the texture and contrast of the subject.

Hard to conceive of when you visit Provence in the Summer, but it does actually snow here too!

We will be going on our next buying trip to France in February, so keep an eye on the website for some more gorgeous French armoires, antique mirrors, French beds and vintage chandeliers.
